hi, my name is Kelli Dunn and I was one of the first girls to join the boys club of Santa Cruz. I believe it was in ‘83-‘84?
There was a newspaper article and a news report at the time. I would love to see that footage as I am now in my 50s. Would be a great Santa Cruz story.

Hey Kelli! Thank you so much for reaching out with your story. Once a Club Kid, always a Club kid! I just spent some time digging through old press and newspaper clippings, but sadly the oldest I found were from around the year 2000. I will keep an eye out for anything older. I might also suggest reaching out to the Santa Cruz Sentinel or the public library to see if they keep microfilms of newspaper editions from that era.
It’s pretty crazy to think about how long it was just the “Boys Club” of Santa Cruz, and really awesome to hear from an early pioneer and leader of girls into the Club. Interesting to hear that you joined in 1983 or 1984, as I was told that the Club did not officially allow girls until the mid-1990s!
