What is Youth of the Year?

For the last 52 years, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County have honored and celebrated the most inspiring teens and their incredible journeys.  Stories of outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle have made Youth of the Year America’s premier leadership and recognition program for teens.  The amazing young people represent the voice and spirit and hope for America, inspiring all kids to lead, succeed and inspire.

Here at BGCSCC, our programs help to foster a new generation of aspiring leaders.  This year, we’re bringing our Youth of the Year program to you.  Because we’re practicing responsible CDC guidelines, an in-person event just isn’t possible at this time, we’ve created a week-long virtual series to celebrate.

We’re excited to bring this week-long program to our entire membership and community.  BGCSCC Youth of the Year week is designed to increase awareness and excitement for Youth of the Year. We will not only be celebrating this individual and their amazing accomplishments, but other Club Members of all ages who are participating in programs to build toward this teen focused effort.

We celebrate Youth of the Year because we believe in the limitless potential of our club members, regardless of their background.

These amazing young people represent the voice and spirit and hope for our community, inspiring all kids to LEAD, SUCCEED and INSPIRE. Thanks to you, and others like you, our Clubs are able to support over 3400 youth annually. It is because of you, and the commitment of our community that we are able to do this work, to celebrate our club kids’ milestones, but most importantly support the success of our youth. Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County Statement on COVID-19 Virus Impact on Upcoming Events for 2021

Safety is the number one priority of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County, and we are doing everything possible to keep youth, our staff, and volunteers protected from the COVID-19 virus. Due to the continued challenges with the pandemic and in accordance with local health department recommendations, at this time we have decided to host our upcoming events through June in a virtual format.  All other events after June are scheduled accordingly. If at any time, the CDC guidelines suggest that we remain remote for safety reasons, we will host all events virtually.
