The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County have launched an ambitious effort to enhance the facilities at each of our Clubhouse locations. In addition to embarking on renovations to our Downtown Santa Cruz Clubhouse, we plan to expand our services in Scotts Valley.
The Joe & Linda Aliberti clubhouse has been enrolled to capacity, with a wait list, since opening in 2018. This site serves an average of 330 members per year, but according to the Childhood Advisory Council of Santa Cruz County, in 2023 there was a shortage of 1,981 childcare spaces in the Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley communities.
We want to make space for more kids to learn, grow and play. Our plans include building a new 7,500 square foot youth center, and transforming our existing 2,400 square foot facility into a dedicated teen center. These spaces will support young people to pursue and achieve our core outcomes of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Leadership.
We’re working hard to make that dream a reality and have begun rallying support, including $1M in Community Project Funding secured by Congressman Panetta.
