Melissa attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles before transferring to the SUNY system in Buffalo, New York. Melissa graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Technology with a Concentration in Apparel Design and Construction and a Minor in Religious Studies. She has worked with youth for over 23 years in several capacities from a sports coach, dance instructor, technology instructor, educator, youth development professional, fashion design teacher, and more. She relocated to Santa Cruz in 2008 after accepting a position in Special Education, a position she still maintains today. Melissa currently teaches Fashion Design, Builders/Makers, Computer Science Pathways, and Animation, in addition to developing a S.T.E.A.M. program at the Live Oak Clubhouse.
